Picasso’s childhood, creative process
and design influences.

Childhood

“Growing up, I thought that
in life you breathe, you eat,
you sleep and you draw.”

Paloma Picasso was born in Paris to Pablo Picasso and
Françoise Gilot. Growing up in a free and expressive
environment, Picasso began drawing at a very early age.
Soon she was buying beads and stringing them together
to make necklaces and bracelets of her own.

Hearts

“I’m endlessly fascinated by the
possibilities of the heart.”

Picasso’s collections are infused with fresh interpretations
of this enduring graphic motif. From bold and linear to subtle
and abstract, the hearts of Picasso are stylish symbols of love
in all its forms.

Becoming A Designer

“The scale of a piece can give
you a sense of empowerment.”

Picasso soon moved from designing jewelry for herself to
creating a special piece for a play in Paris. From the
beginning, her natural tendency was to design on a large
scale. Her bold creations have inspired confidence and
strength in women the world over.

World Influence

Picasso draws inspiration from the world around
her: architecture and museums, landscapes and sunsets. She
has many active hobbies and interests, including car racing
and sailing.

Truly an international designer, Picasso grew up in Paris and
the south of France. She speaks four languages and has
homes on Lake Geneva in Switzerland and in Marrakech.

Inspired by the mosaic craftsmanship of the same name,
Picasso created Paloma’s Zellige while designing a pattern for
her patio in Morocco.

Colored Stones

From her signature red lipstick to her stone designs,
Picasso is perhaps best known for her use of bold colors.
Her unique combinations of hues are world-renowned.

Tiffany’s extraordinary collection of gemstones from all
over the world is her palette: quartz, citrine, amethyst,
chalcedony, peridot, aquamarine, rock crystal, and her
favorite, shocking pink rubellite.

There is a magic in the weight, movement and light of her
100 Carat pendants that is confident and empowering.

Creative Process

While some of Paloma Picasso’s ideas linger in her head for
years, other times she has a vision and puts it down on paper
right away—whether she’s in her office, in bed or in an
airplane. In fact, many of her designs are sketched on hotel
stationery and faxed to Tiffany & Co. from all over the world.

Discover The Collections

Picasso’s beloved collections,
in her own words.

PALOMA PICASSO ON PALOMA’S ZELLIGE

“To me, the geometry of
Moroccan design is pure
poetry—simple, straight lines
playing off each other. I love
how something so authentic
and traditional can also be
incredibly chic.”

PALOMA PICASSO ON PALOMA’S CALIFE

“The nine bands of a Calife ring
drape together around your finger
like a turban. They glide together,
separating and overlapping with
silky movement.”

PALOMA PICASSO ON PALOMA’S GRAFFITI

“This goes back to the girls at
my English boarding school
who signed letters with X’s
for kisses. A huge revelation
to a little Parisian like me!”

PALOMA PICASSO ON HAMMERED METAL

“I’ve been working
with hammered metal for
years. Like all things
handmade, each piece is
unique...warm, feminine
and eternally sensual.”

PALOMA PICASSO ON COLORED STONES

“Colored stones are really
earth’s miracles. The colors
enthrall me. I use tactile
shapes and textures, because
I love their feel against
my skin.”

PALOMA PICASSO ON HEARTS

“Here, I’ve used the signature
of love to create a graphic
motif that exudes youthful,
modern energy.”

PALOMA PICASSO ON PALOMA’S SUGAR STACKS

“Sugar Stacks are about color.
Cabochons of yummy colors
piled together, round and
sensual. These are about a
happy life.”

PALOMA PICASSO ON HEARTS

“The gem-accented Modern Heart
is an expression of unexpected
angles and soft curves.”

PALOMA PICASSO ON HEARTS

“This heart, with the
dimensionality of sculpture,
expresses affection in a fun,
exuberant way.”

PALOMA PICASSO ON HEARTS

“My heart designs began with
the Loving Heart—a spirited
flourish of graffiti.”
