Bean® design Necklace
in Gold Lacquer over Japanese Hardwood

Description & Details

Elsa Peretti’s iconic Bean® design is a symbol of life’s origins. A beautifully humble form, the bean’s simple shape, natural contours and smoothness always appealed to her. The sculptural, organic collection captures her signature talent for creating irresistibly tactile objects that remind us of the beauty inherent in nature. Peretti’s colorful lacquer Bean® designs are handcrafted in Japan using ancient techniques. The 70-step process requires carving Japanese hardwood, called katsura, and applying multiple layers of lacquer to gleaming perfection.

Elsa Peretti®

Elsa Peretti, a true pioneer of design, translates all she sees in the natural world into jewelry that is sculptural, organic and irresistibly sensual. Peretti’s revolutionary aesthetic enchanted the world after she joined Tiffany & Co. in 1974, changing the role of diamonds in fashion for everyday wear and elevating the status of sterling silver. Her creations are as modern today as ever.
