The Tiffany Style Sessions
TIFFANY T STYLED BY ALEX WHITE
Masters of style interpret Tiffany collections through their unique points of view.
“My style is about breaking the rules,” says Alex White, whose impressive career spans two decades. “It’s about individuality and mixing things up.”
It’s exactly this fearless sensibility that White applied to The Tiffany Style Sessions. “Everyone wears jewelry differently and I wanted to really focus on different personalities,” she says.
White, who is Fashion Director of Elle U.S. and styled our spring 2020 campaign, approached each look for this story through the lens of diversity and character play. “For me, Tiffany is New York. And what is New York? It’s a melting pot of different ethnicities, of racial and sexual diversity,” she tells us from her Brooklyn home.
The stylist’s multicultural background—she was born to a Trinidadian mother and a British father—serves as a constant source of inspiration. White shares, “My international upbringing had a big impact on my fashion interpretation.”
Indeed, our shoot encompasses a rich tapestry of cultural influences, where ’70s Biba girls, ’80s athletic wear and ’90s minimalism weave seamlessly with the modern Tiffany T collection. “It comes from creating stories and characters for models and the jewelry they’re wearing,” White says.
The One and Only
“One piece is all you need,” says White of this striking shot, which captures the notion of “simple diamond luxury.” Take a cue from ’90s minimalism and pair a graphic diamond bracelet with knitwear for a look that proves diamonds shine bright during the daytime, too.
As Good as Gold
Want to take your look from day to night? According to White, “A choker is an easy way to dress up a classic shirt or jacket.” Channel the ’70s with a wide-collared shirt, unbuttoned at the neck to draw attention to an oversized gold choker. For the finishing touch, just add a matching band ring and prepare to turn heads.
“Tiffany T is iconic. It’s a new classic and I love that you can layer and mix it with your other pieces from Tiffany.”
Layered Up
“It’s about layering, spontaneity and not following any rules,” says White of this expressive take on streetwear. Don’t be afraid to mix a bold choker with a delicate pendant and a men’s chain—the unexpected always pays off when it comes to style.
Delicate Diamonds
Now for a lesson in mixing and matching. This ingenue-inspired look pairs delicate diamond pieces together for maximum impact. “I like how the ring echoes the ‘T’ in the bracelet,” says White. “It’s about coordinating but not matching.”
