Our artisans brought the extraordinary new design for the Tiffany Diamond to life over a span of nearly 2,000 hours, individually setting over 75 total carats of diamonds—1,220 round brilliant diamonds and 35 oval diamonds—and 10 round pink sapphires by hand. Evoking birds in flight, the design exemplifies the House’s visionary artistry.

The Tiffany Diamond is one of the largest and most celebrated fancy yellow diamonds in the world. The 287.42-carat rough stone was unearthed in South Africa in 1877 and acquired by Tiffany & Co. founder Charles Lewis Tiffany a year later. The legendary Tiffany Diamond was set and polished with standards so high, they continue to inspire us today. At over an inch wide, the final cushion-shape brilliant design was cut to 128.54 carats, an embodiment of our unwavering commitment to pursuing beauty over size. The Tiffany Diamond is not just an incredible feat of craftsmanship—it’s irreplaceable.

Artistry Through the Ages

Until today, the Tiffany Diamond had famously been featured within only four designs. In 1957, for the first time in history, the gemstone was set in a necklace, suspended in a pendant of 20 diamonds from a rivière of 64 diamonds. In 1961, it was set in Jean Schlumberger’s Ribbon Rosette necklace. In 1995, the Tiffany Diamond was set in the Bird on a Rock brooch for Jean Schlumberger’s retrospective at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris; and in 2012, it was mounted in a necklace set with over 100 carats of diamonds to commemorate Tiffany’s 175th anniversary.
