Today, only a fraction of the world’s coral reefs are protected. Without vibrant coral reefs, our oceans lose vital ecosystems that support critical habitats, marine biodiversity, protect coastlines, sustain fisheries and boost economies for all those who depend on ocean health. Partnering with the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), The Tiffany & Co. Foundation has committed support to MERMAID. Led by WCS, MERMAID is the world’s largest open-source platform of real-time coral reef data, providing valuable information to empower people and institutions to take action to save reefs.

Looking ahead, The Tiffany & Co. Foundation is supporting WCS and the launch of MERMAID AI to help transform how coral reefs are monitored and protected globally. By leveraging advanced AI technology, we will help close a critical data gap, empowering professional and citizen scientists to track and safeguard coral reef health in real time.
