Platinum Drop Pendant Necklaces
Explore our coveted collection of Platinum Drop Pendant Necklaces for inventive takes on lariat necklaces and statement pendants. Imagined by Tiffany artisans in New York City and crafted in our renowned workshops, each design reflects our legacy of innovation. Discover diamond and sculptural lariat necklaces by legendary designer Elsa Peretti, featuring her inspired forms like snakes, starfish, the iconic Open Heart, mesh and scorpions. For an elegant and timeless silhouette, a long pendant with a colored gemstone, such as aquamarine, turquoise or tanzanite, looks striking on its own as your outfit's centerpiece or combined with necklaces of varying lengths. For a classic play on proportion, layered pendant necklaces create an unforgettable look. Pair a short pendant with a lariat necklace or couple together a trio of different designs in a mix of metals to express your personal style. For a thoughtful gift, select necklace designs can be engraved with initials, a special date or custom message for the ultimate personal touch.
Frequently Asked Questions about Drop Pendant Necklaces
Each Tiffany drop pendant necklace reflects a legacy of precision craftsmanship and considered design. From the fluid forms of Elsa Peretti to the architectural clarity of T by Tiffany, every piece is crafted to endure. Our designs balance sculptural presence with refined wearability, making each necklace an expression of enduring artistry.
A drop pendant suspends below the chain, creating movement and visual depth as it falls away from the neckline. A standard pendant sits closer to the chain and rests more flush against the body. The distinction lies in proportion and silhouette. Drop pendants draw the eye downward, lending an elongating, editorial quality to any look.
Several Tiffany collections feature drop pendant necklaces, including the organic forms of Elsa Peretti and the iconic motifs of Tiffany Keys. The Elsa Peretti® Open Heart and Elsa Peretti® Teardrop designs exemplify the category with their fluid, sculptural drops. Drop necklaces with diamond-set pendants or sculptural gold forms are among the most enduring choices in fine jewelry. Designs that feature a single focal element suspended on a delicate chain offer refined elegance without excess. For everyday sophistication or a milestone occasion, a well-proportioned drop pendant necklace remains a considered and lasting selection.
To preserve the brilliance of a Tiffany drop pendant necklace, store it separately to prevent contact with other jewelry. Clean gently with a soft cloth and avoid exposure to harsh chemicals, perfumes or abrasive surfaces. For professional cleaning and inspection, we recommend visiting a Tiffany store, where a client advisor can assist with care and maintenance.
Chain length shapes how a drop pendant sits and moves against the body. A 16" to 18" chain positions the pendant near the collarbone for a refined, close-to-the-neckline effect. Longer chains of 20" or more allow the pendant to fall lower, creating a more layered, editorial silhouette. Consider neckline and personal proportion when selecting.
A Tiffany drop pendant necklace carries both beauty and significance, making it a considered choice for anniversaries, birthdays and personal milestones. Designs such as Elsa Peretti® Diamonds by the Yard® combine diamond brilliance with understated elegance. Each piece arrives in the iconic Tiffany Blue Box®, elevating the moment of giving as much as the gift itself.
Layering a drop pendant necklace works best when chain lengths are varied by at least 2" to 4" between each piece. Pair a longer drop pendant with a shorter, more delicate gold chain for contrast and balance. Mixing metals intentionally, such as 18k gold with sterling silver, adds depth without visual competition. Keep pendants distinct in scale to avoid overlap.
